Girls Varsity Swimming · Gucky Wins GHSA State Title in the 100m Backstroke


Mt. Bethel Junior Swimmer Hampton Gucky continued her dominance in the pool as she took home the GHSA State Title in the 100m Backstroke Thursday at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center. She is the first-ever state champion for the Eagles in GHSA Varsity Competition.

Gucky took home first with a time of  56.02 in the Backstroke which set new personal and Mt. Bethel records.

“Remember the name Hampton Gucky,” Mt. Bethel Athletic Director Cal Boyd stated on the junior and her win. “She is the FIRST GHSA STATE CHAMPION at Mt. Bethel. She’s also been nominated for All-American Honors! We are extremely proud of Hampton’s career thus far. For all the other schools in the state, she is just a junior! Hampton Gucky – STATE CHAMPION! That’s sounds really, really good! Congrats Hampton and Go Eagles!”

In addition, Gucky finished just out of medal contention in the 100m Butterfly taking home fourth.
