The Eagles bounced back with a solid 25-14, 25-12 victory over King’s Ridge Christian school on Thursday.
Both sides struggled with their serves early, but Mt. Bethel was able to compensate with nearly flawless back row play, led by Eva Petiot, Nancy Clare Parsons, and Julia Acker. Their well-controlled shots allowed the team to consistently set up their attack, which overwhelmed King’s Ridge in the first set.
In the second set, it was the middles’ turn to shine, as Grey Bozza and Emily Malinov each had a couple of excellent hits, and their attack blocks seemed to draw errors out the back from the King’s Ridge hitters. Continued serving woes meant that the set started with a 7-7 tie until Nancy Clare Parsons and AG Herren gave Mt. Bethel a solid lead with their serving runs. King’s Ridge did mount a comeback, but Mt Bethel was able to snuff it out, setting up Shelby Harris for two consecutive kills that switched momentum for good. The Eagles then cruised to victory behind the strength of Evie Hanover’s service run of seven points.
